Tonar Industries, a Cornell Dubilier franchised distributor, announces news from Cornell Dubilier!

Cornell Dubilier Electronics, Inc. (CDE) announces the release of Type CDLC, CarbonCap Double Layer Capacitors, and Type CDHC hybrid ultracapacitors. Cornell Dubilier's lineup of large cell cylindrical ultracapacitors spans 1200 to 3000 farads; snap-in style ultracapacitors from 100 to 600 farads and higher energy hybrid capacitors from 220 to 1000 farads.
CDHC Hybrid Capacitors are half ultracapacitor and half lithium ion battery. These hybrid capacitors store more than twice the energy of typical ultracapacitors and have high cycle life capability compared to batteries. Hybrid capacitors have more power than lithium ion batteries, but less energy storage. By comparison, ultracapacitors have a cycle life capability of a million cycles or more, batteries have a cycle life of around 1000 cycles and hybrid capacitors, more than 20,000 cycles. While the ultracapacitors have a usual working voltage range of 1.3 to 2.7 V, hybrid capacitors operate from 1.0 to 2.3 V. The higher energy of hybrid capacitors makes them especially suitable for use in LED lighting and emergency pulse applications, e.g. operation of electric doors and windows.
Type CDLC CarbonCap Ultracapacitor Cells are available with axial, M12 threaded mounting studs on both ends as well as additional mounting options. The new snap-in units are available in 2 and 4 pin versions and are well suited for wind turbine blade pitch control.
The large ultracapacitors handle back-up and pulse power applications such as grid stabilization. They also excel in transportation applications like automotive subsystems, rail system power and utility vehicles. They provide extended power allowing critical information and functions to remain available during dips, sags, and outages in the main power source. These cells can relieve batteries of burst power functions, thereby reducing costs and maximizing space and energy efficiency. Units with axial cylindrical design enables low ESR and high peak currents with an electrostatic storage capability that can cycle a million charges and discharges without performance degradation.

Tonar Industries, a Cornell Dubilier franchised distributor, announces news from Cornell Dublier!

Cornell Dubilier announces availability of its Type 947D high energy density DC link capacitors for larger inverter systems. The 947D is an excellent choice for DC link applications where high bus voltage, high capacitance, and high ripple current are required for smoothing and filtering.
Compared with major competitive types, the 947D DC link capacitor offers up to 20% more capacitance in the same size case with lower ESR and higher ripple current ratings. Since a fused, segmented metallization pattern is used, the 947D capacitors offer greater open circuit protection and superior control of capacitance loss than competitive types. The pattern is deposited on a low-loss, high-grade polypropylene dielectric. Built-in fuse links limit capacitance loss to a small segment within the capacitor in lieu of the larger areas of uncontrolled capacitance loss observed with non-segmented types.
Available in 130 to 3600 µF and rms current ratings in excess of 100 A, The 947D DC link capacitors are packaged in cylindrical aluminum cases with diameters of 85, 90, 100 and 116 mm. Voltage ratings range from 800 to 1300 Vdc. The heavy duty M8x20 threaded studs or optional M6 threaded inserts are used to connect the high current terminals to the inverter’s bus. An optional M12 mounting stud at the bottom of the case provides a robust mechanical connection where needed. Where increased strike distance between live parts is important for applications, the UL94V-0 plastic top offers greater terminal-to-case and terminal-to-terminal insulation.
With a 200,000 hour life expectancy at nameplate ratings of current, voltage and temperature, the 947D DC Link capacitor will excel at providing reliable filtering and smoothing for today’s demanding applications in inverters for wind and solar energy, electric vehicles, motor drives, UPS systems, and more.

Tonar Industries, a Mean Well franchised distributor, announces news from Mean Well!

In response to the low power consumption requirement for electronic end products, MEAN WELL introduced a new generation of power supply with green concept~ EPS-25/35 series, 25W and 35W high efficiency AC/DC green open frame type switching power supply. Featuring with cost effective PCB structure, these PSUs without enclosure are designed to install directly into system chassis. Compared to MEANWELL’s first generation of PCB type with the same wattage ~ PS-25/35 series, these new models have extremely low “no load power consumption” (below 0.3W). Their PCB size was reduced from 4”x2” to 3”x2”, the working efficiency was increased by 4~13% correspondingly, and the warranty was extended from 2 years to 3 years
With up-to-date high efficiency circuit design, EPS-25/35 series possess up to 90% of high efficiency. Hence, they can be cooled by free air convection from -30℃ to +70℃ ambient temperature that required for operating in a closed system. Complete protection functions include short circuit, overload, and over voltage. In addition, these new power units feature with extremely low no-load power consumption (<0. 3W), which allows the designers easily conform to the requirements of ErP norm (Energy-related Products) for end systems. These new series comply with certificates per UL/CUL/TUV/CB/CE which can greatly guarantee your safety. Suitable applications include factory automation, electrical or mechanical equipment, and all usage that requires low no load power consumption.

Tonar Industries, a Mean Well fanchised distributor, announces news from Mean Well!

After the launch of SPU02 (2W) series, MEAN WELL introduced another 3W encapsulated packaging module type unregulated DC-DC converter ~ SPU03 series, to fulfill the low cost and low wattage related applications. With single-in-line package, the size of 3W converters has been widened slightly (0.77" x 0.30 "x 0.40") based on the original SPU02 case size (0.77 "x 0.28" x 0.40 "). In addition, SPU03 series possess up to 88% of high efficiency, hence, they can be operated by free air convection cooling from -40℃ to +90℃ ambient temperature. Equipped with standard pin assignment, this series feature with 3000VDC input / output isolation, low ripple noise, cost effective, CE/FCC compliance, and built-in short circuit protection, which are very suitable for industrial control, telecom/datacom, and distributed power architecture related applications.

Tonar Industries, a Mean Well franchised distributor, announces news from Mean Well!

MEAN WELL introduced new generation of 30W miniature single output regulated DC-DC converter with size of 2”x 1”x 0.44” ~ SKM30 series. Featuring with dual-in-line package, SKM30 series greatly reduce the size by 65.1% comparing to the current corresponding models of SDM30 (30W, 2”x 2”x 0.63”) and increase the working efficiency by 5~11%. Furthermore, compared to SDM30, the slim design makes it 30% lower in height, so that SKM30 can rank as the smallest DC-DC module type converters among the same wattage products in the market, which help system designers to solve the tough issue of space limitation.
With up-to date high frequency circuit design, SKM30 series possess up to 90% of high efficiency, therefore, they can be full load operated by free air convection cooling from -40℃ to +55℃ ambient temperature, and even up to +75℃ by derating the output load. Equipped with standard pin assignment, the new series feature with 2:1 wide input range, 1500VDC input / output isolation, short circuit / overload / input and output over voltage protections, low ripple noise, built-in remote ON/OFF control, and output trimming. In addition, the six-sided shield metal case can significantly enhance their EMC characteristics that make them comply with CE/FCC regulations without adding extra EMC suppression components. The fully encapsulated packaging can help SKM30 withstand the influence of dust and moisture in all kinds of harsh environment, which are very suitable for industrial control, telecom/datacom, and distributed power architecture related applications.
