ebm-papst: DV6300 Series Diagonal Fan

Tonar Industries, an ebm-papst franchised distributor, announces news from ebm-papst!

Diagonal fans are ideal for applications with strict requirements regarding air performance with high back-pressure and small installation space. The new fans of the DV6300 series from ebm-papst now go a step further. Besides improved blower output, the fans with electronically regulated S-Force motor also offer additional functions such as temperature based speeds, active motor cooling, closed loop PWM speed control, and constant speeds over wide input voltage ranges.

The fans have a diameter of 172mm (6.77 in) on the intake side, making them exactly the same size as the DV6200 range. On the exhaust side, the aerodynamically revised design has a diameter of 190mm (7.48 in) and an installation depth of 51mm (2in) for DV6318/2TDH4P and below performance models. DV6318/2TDH5P has a rotor protrusion of 3mm (0.12 in). The free-blowing air flow is up to 647 CFM (1100 m/h3), the pronounced pressure saddle is up to 3 in. H2O (750 Pa). At 83.5 dB(A), operating noise in the high-pressure range is about 8 dB(A) quieter than older models at the same operating point. That is due to various factors, one of them being a flange with noise-optimized links. With an efficiency of 85% for complete motor and electronics, the 350W motor is configured for a long service life at nominal output in all components.

The DV6300 fan series is particularly well suited for applications with high endurance loads, e.g. for motor frequency inverters and switch cabinets cooling, printing machines and heat exchangers. The fans are also highly suitable for the systems requiring multiple different operating conditions such as cooling air requirements of IT/telecommunications; for example base stations, servers, etc. or in power inverters for wind turbines.

Benefits & Properties at a Glance:

Higher air performance up to 1100 m3/h or 647 CFM

Extremely broad operating range with a high pressure saddle curve

Very high reliability despite the ultra high performance levels seen with the DV6300TD

Tonar Industries, a Mean Well franchised distributor, announces news from Mean Well!

After the launch of HVG(C)-100 (100W) series, MEAN WELL announced the extension of its HVG(C)-150 series of 150W AC/DC high input voltage LED power supply, in order to fulfill the higher wattage requirements for LED lighting applications. Compared with HVG(C)-100, the input voltage range of HVG(C)-150 had been increased to 180~528VAC, thus, they are fit for the general 230VAC main input, and also can be operated under 347/440/480VAC input in USA, Japan, and Canada. Designed with constant voltage (C.V.) plus constant current (C.C.) mode, HVG-150 series are low voltage output models (54VDC Max.) while HVGC-150 are high voltage output models (428VDC Max.). Both series are built-in two-stage PFC function, so that they can meet the harmonic current limitation per EN61000-3-2 Class C (>50~55% load), and they also fulfill PF>0.9 if loading over 50% (>70% load under 480VAC). In addition, they possess 4KV surge immunity (EN61000-4-5) ability which complies with the requirements of street lighting.

HVG(C)-150 has three options (A/B/D type) in different mechanisms and functions for your selection. In A type of HVG-150, users can adjust DC current range from 50% to 100% and output voltage ±10% by removing the rubber stopper on the cover. In A type of HVGC-150, users can adjust DC current range from 60% to 100%; B type models equip with three-in-one dimming function (0~10VDC, PWM, resistance) while D type models (optional) equip with “multiple stage timer dimming” function that can be customized by request. In addition, these two series possess up to 91.5% of high efficiency, so they can be cooled by free air convection from -40°C to +70°C ambient temperature and meet the high ambient temperature requirements for closed systems. In order to fit in with the outdoor harsh environment, aluminum case with fully potted by glue (IP65/67 structure) are also designed in these new power units. Beside standard functions of protections for short circuit, over voltage, overload, and over temperature, HVG(C)150 comply with global certificates per UL/CUL/FCC for HVG-150 and UL/CUL/TUV/CB/FCC/CE for HVGC-150, including UL8750 and EN61347-2-13 of lighting regulations. They are very suitable to be used in LED street lighting, LED high bay lighting, LED outdoor lighting and parking lot lighting…etc.

As of October 1, 2012 Cornell Dubilier will manufacture and supply Orange Drop Film Capacitors. Vishay will no longer market the 225P and 715P Orange Drop Film Capacitor series. Cornell Dubilier has acquired the Orange Drop film capacitor product lines from SBE who was manufacturing for Vishay. All part numbers will remain the same as will the electrical and mechanical specs. The only change to the part will be its marking. All newly produced parts will be identified with the CDE mark in place of SBE. If you have been using Vishay, please call us at (973)-586-9000 or 800-56-TONAR for a quote.

Orange Drop Capacitors made with film dielectric and metallized or foil electrodes are well known for their excellent performance in pulse DC and AC circuits. The Orange Drop line consists of roughly 20 series, each with its unique design to cover diverse AC and DC applications ranging from filter caps in switch mode power supplies, to snubbers that protect IGBT's in high power inverters.

Offered in values from 0.22 nanofarads to 10 microfarads and voltages from 100 to 2000 Vdc, Orange Drop Capacitors are radial leaded types that mount to a printed circuit board. The term Orange Drop Capacitor was first coined in the 1960's by Sprague Capacitor Company, so aptly named for their bright orange epoxy conformal coating.

Tonar Industries, a Microtips franchised distributor, announces news from Microtips!

Capacitive touch panels have become the go-to technology for detecting user input in a wide range of applications and are commonly found paired with liquid crystal displays in every day devices such as desktop and smart phones, mobile devices, game consoles, all-in-one and tablet computers, appliances and monitoring devices. They have become one of the most essential features of the products we use every day and are now an indispensible part of our lives.

Microtips is currently using CNT technology as a replacement for ITO in some of our resistive and capacitive touch panels, which offers many benefits. CNT has higher durability, increased accuracy, higher sensitivity, flexible, better transmissivity, capable of higher resolutions, and even has a more environmentally friendly manufacturing process. There is also a cost savings associated with CNT due to cheaper raw materials and no requirement for glass etching, which equates to a more price competitive final product. Further cost reducing options are available, such as offering glass-film (GF), glass-film-film (GFF), and hybrid GFF designs. We also have PCAP touch panel options where the cover glass is integrated into the PCAP glass, removing the need for an extra layer in cases where mechanical thickness is a concern.

Custom modules are also available to combine multiple capacitors for combinations of higher voltage ratings or capacitance. Custom modules are also available to combine multiple capacitors for combinations of higher voltage ratings or capacitance.

The DCN Series includes an expanded range of values and voltages, from 1F (Farad) to 3,500F. Operating temperature ranges from -40C to +60C for extended life performance in countless applications. The new additions extend the capabilities of the series into applications where capacitors may not have been previously considered. DCN capacitors are an excellent choice for battery replacements or supplements. Unlike batteries, they do not degrade with each cycle. At 2.7 volts, DCN load life is rated at 86,700 hours. Operating life is rated at 10 years with 500,000 cycles. Applications for these super capacitors include: energy harvesting, battery pack alternatives, memory backup, battery/capacitor hybrids, UPS systems, emergency lighting, solar lighting, audio power boost and more. The 400F products also continue to be popular, with more than enough capacity for many exciting applications.

All values in the DCN Series are radial configuration, with various cases sizes and lead terminations. The parts are also fully RoHS compliant. Like other IC capacitors, each DCN Series capacitor is 100% burn-in tested.

The term low loss refers to a cables relative low attenuation (loss) over distance. The main difference between standard RG cable and low loss coaxial cable is the shielding. Low loss cable has far better shielding than typical RG style cable thus achieving better low loss characteristics. Additionally, low loss coaxial cables use solid center conductors which offer lower attenuation than stranded conductors that are sometimes found on RG style cables. Low loss coaxial cables are typically used in WLAN, Cellular, PCS, ISM and many other wireless applications.

The lower the number of the series, the smaller the diameter of the cable. Lower number series cables such as 195, etc. are used for very short pigtail connections to access points, surge protectors (in close proximity), and amplifiers. Larger series cable such as the 400 series are typically used for medium antenna cable runs and the 900 series is used for long distance applications such as base station tower installations that can be 100 feet or more off the ground. As a general rule, 100 and 195 series is good for distances under 20 feet, use 400 series cable for 20-50 feet, use 600 series cable for >50 feet.

Featuring with 340 to 550Vac three phase wide input range, TDR-960 can only capture two phases out of the three but still be operated by derating power during the phase failure status. The slim design of 110mm in width helps save the precious space on the rail and also makes it 40.2% smaller in size compare to its predecessor model DRT-960. Meanwhile, they have 2.5%~3% higher efficiency than corresponding old models, which response to the trend of green power with energy saving concept.

With up-to-date high performance circuit design, TDR-960 series possess up to 94.5% of extremely high efficiency and can be full load operated by free air convection cooling from -30°C to +50°C ambient temperature (or up to +70℃ by suitable power derating). Built-in active PFC function, these high efficient power units meet the harmonic current limitation per EN61000-3-2. In addition, with overload protection function designed as constant current limiting and delay shutdown, TDR-960 series can be used in all kinds of critical loading conditions, such as inductive or capacitive loads. Other standard functions include DC OK relay contact alarm signal output, front panel LED indicator, front panel DC voltage adjustment , parallel function, as well as protection for short-circuit, overload, over voltage, and over temperature. TDR-960 series comply with UL/ CB/ CE certificates and also meet the EMC requirements of heavy industrial immunity level (EN61000-6-2).

To deliver an airflow through a heat exchanger, a sufficient pressure differential is needed to overcome the flow resistance of the exchanger. Normally, the delivered air flows at high speed from the exit side of the fan and is dissipated into the environment. Dissipation means that the kinetic energy of the flow is converted into heat that is no longer technically utilised. The AxiTop diffuser is designed to decelerate the flow, allowing a large proportion of the dynamic kinetic energy to be converted into static pressure. This reverse-conversion boosts the pressure increase of the impeller. If all components are aerodynamically optimised, this allows efficiency to be significantly enhanced, making it possible to reduce the fan speed and thus noise emissions.

In practice, the use of the AxiTop diffuser does not just mean lower energy consumption; it also means greater variance for the user and for the development engineer. The AxiTop diffuser configuration can be optimised for different characteristics, depending on the application concerned. Either a greater air performance is possible with unchanged energy input, or unchanged air performance with lower energy consumption. The AxiTop diffuser can also greatly improve acoustic characteristics. This is especially important in noise-sensitive applications (e.g. in cooling or air conditioning units operating at night).

The future of efficiancy, ErP 2015, already available now. ebm-papst is exceeding the standard with GreenTech EC Technology.

By adopting the Kyoto Protocol, the European Union has undertaken to reduce CO2 emissions by at least 20 percent by 2020. To achieve this climate goal, the EU adopted the EuP Directive (Energy-using Products Directive) in 2005. Renamed the ErP Directive (Energy-related Products Directive) in 2009, it will help with studying the savings potential of numerous energy-related products and codifying minimum requirements. In June of 2010, binding limit values were defined for fans, regardless of whether they operate as individual units or as components in a device or system. This affects numerous application areas, ranging from refrigeration and air-conditioning technology to mechanical engineering or IT applications.

For all products with a power input between 125 W and 500 kW, the first stage of the European Energy-related Products Directive (ErP) to improve energy efficiency will enter into force by 2013 and the second stage by 2015. Thanks to groundbreaking GreenTech EC technology, all ebm-papst fans and motors in these performance classes exceed the ErP Directive even today in terms of their efficiency.
